Scope and Content

The collection deals with the LaSalle Art Museum, mainly exhibits and programs with some miscellaneous items. This collection contains two boxes. The first series is made of program and events materials for the Art Museum ranging from 1969-2007. Each year has a different amount of material but almost every file pertains to an exhibit, therefore there are a lot of booklets about the paintings or drawings being displayed by the museum at that time. The series dealt with events and programs initiated by LaSalle Art Museum, more specifically Caroline Wistar and Brother Daniel Burke. A unique aspect about this series is the overwhelming number of programs and events dedicated to or donated by the Susan Dunleavy Collection, a LaSalleian undergraduate who was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Brother Daniel Burke focused mainly on biblical artistic representations with some deviation in to Tudor England portraits/art history. In almost every year there was a Christmas program while other years, better represented, also had the spring and fall programs. The second series was drastically different from the previous one. This series still focused on events and programs sponsored by LaSalle but rarely on visual artistic displays. This box contained flyers for concerts and poetry readings, invoices for donor receptions, and purchasing reports for the entire 1970’s decade. This series requires that some material is restricted due to financial receipts/records as well as pertinent financial information about the LaSalle Art Museum Collection as a whole
