Scope and Content
Letters exchanged between Koch and various editors of literary journals or publishing houses such as The Sewanee Review, Southern Review, Alfred A. Knopf, and Four Quarters regarding his submissions. The letters include simple acknowledgements of receipts of submissions but also feedback and discussion of drafts of Koch’s poems, short stories, novels, or plays. This series also includes Koch’s correspondence with friends and fellow writers, students, and fans of his writing.

Arrangement Note
This series is arranged chronologically with the exception of Koch’s correspondence with Ray Pentzell, John Blockley, John Baky, John M. McKenna, and Charles Conwell. While the bulk of Koch’s correspondence did not arrive in logical order, the correspondence with these individuals had been separated. This separation was preserved.
